It gives me great honour to present your senior men's head coach for the 2018-2019 season Simon Fitzgerald. Simon will be a great addition to our club and I would like for everyone to welcome him next week at the club and say hi.

He will be starting pre-season in the first week of August and he's very excited to be apart of our Hornets family and looking forward to working with the guys for this season. Simon is arriving with his girlfriend Erin Caughey who herself is no stranger to the game of rugby as she has represented Ireland as captain as well as Ulster rugby and provincial in their homeland. Here are some of Simon details below. This is a great day for our club and let's start getting excited for the up coming season and put the word out.

Where Community, Legacy and Excellence form the basis of what we do! Our Community extends beyond the club membership as we support sport and physical activity of all kinds. Rugby is unique in that there is a place for every body type and all skill levels, plus the social aspect forms an important part of our culture.

The Hornets have a rich history as one of the first clubs in North America, dating back to 1888. Over the years, we have many members who have gone on to play for Canada and this Legacy continues as we hope to have a Hornet representing Canada at an upcoming Olympics!

We strive for a culture of Excellence in all aspects of the game, from the quality of coaching through to the expectations of all players, both on and off the field. We don't just want success in competition, we want our members to be successful in Life.

The Nanaimo Hornets are well known on the Island for their uncompromising style of play, their hospitality and commitment to growing the game.

Our senior men's team has reached the Island Finals for 4 out of the past 5 years. While the women's team have won the B.C. Finals and been runner up in the past few years, which is an outstanding achievement!

One of the clubs aims is to promote the game of rugby in Nanaimo, especially within the local schools. With your help we're sure we can realize that goal, and we thank you sincerely for your support.

Whether you are a seasoned player or new to the game, the Nanaimo Hornets welcome you to a chance to experience the game of rugby and some 'Hornet style' hospitality.
